Looks like a Chinook Pizza Tray De Havilland Mosquito 5 months ago   01:21

Looks like a Chinook helicopter. I am flying kites today at Portishead near Bristol UK and spotted this helicopter flying over so I tried to zoom in and focus on it with my Canon Powershot SX60 HS. Holding it steady at full zoom without the tripod is always difficult.

I like Chinook helicopter it not my favorite but its nice helicopter
We get them fly along the coast where i live. A month or 2 back the local pages on facebook were buzzing with the site of an apache helecopter. Quite a rare sight in the uk as theres not many in raf service.

Before you slowed the video down i thought that Chinook is going quick for one of them, but at the end i noticed it was flying down wind. The workshop i rent has a major light aircraft airlane passing over it that the Army use when they are going from Middle Wallop ( ouch ! ) to Thetford, One day Four Chinooks, two with underslung Land Rovers, accompanyed by Apaches flew over, i wish i'd had my camera with me.

Pizza Tray De Havilland Mosquito Looks like a Chinook 5 months ago   02:30

Pizza Tray De Havilland Mosquito - Part #3 - more trimming more mending. It embarrasses me to admit it took me about half an hour of testing to spot that I put the wrong props on the motors after I had adjusted the thrust angle so they were pushing the plane backwards!!!! They are matched contra-rotating propellers, one left, one right.
I thought the wind was too strong...

If you have a question it is probably worth reading this video description first because the answer may already be here. To help you find my videos I made two search guides https://ai-tube.com/videoai/prOFBbBUptj or https://ai-tube.com/videoai/Mw4HtjxjLEx or checkout my playlists page https://www.youtube.com/user/GrandadIsAnOldMan/playlists?flow=grid&view=1

I based the plane on plans from here http://smm.solidmodelmemories.net/Gallery/displayimage.php?pid=4647

Main Components
Polystyrene Pizza Trays
Contact Adhesive
Hot Glue
2 x 2.7 volt 5 farad supercapacitors
2 electric motors
suitable switch to switch 2 circuits at once

This was the eBay listing for the electric motors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251480920143
The supercapacitors came from Maplin Electronics http://www.maplin.co.uk/c/components/capacitors/super-capacitors

Clearly many parts of the world do not have polystyrene pizza trays. They are just the packaging that my local supermarkets use for pizzas. I use them because they are free and would otherwise be thrown away. You could use any polystyrene or styrofoam packaging you can find or even buy foam board from model shops. The foam I am using is about 5mm thick.

Main tools
Sharp utility knife
Hot Glue Gun
Soldering iron

Filmed using
FujiFilm FinePix XP70

Edited using
Serif MoviePlus Starter Edition

The prop lock for twin engine rubber band powered planes mentioned at the end of this video is here

Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.
