Geotechnical engineers working from our Vidalia Area Office check on a levee slide reported earlier in the winter flood of 2016. With the crest passing the Natchez gage, engineers and levee patrols are monitoring slides like this to ensure they do not present a threat to levee stability.

Levees in Pierre and Ft. Pierre are completed but that doesn't mean crews have stopped working on them. The South Dakota Air National Guard is constantly monitoring the levees and making repairs so it holds up against the 150,000 cubic feet of water gushing from the Oahe Dam. South Dakota Public Broadcasting's Jackelyn Severin reports.
