A single cassette tape might not be your first choice for playing hours of background music - but it was possible.

10:53 not so much "cassette should be illuminated" as "cassette should be incinerated" :-)

Right, left, right, left.

Are the identity political snowflakes now making the claim that analogue is as sexist as air conditioning units?

It's just as well you never bought the Beatles cassettes... They're not ProPac's, they're of the previous AEI system, the Paragon! These were big Fidelipac cartridges!

Hi TECHMOAN!!

I never miss his videos dedicated to the study and knowledge of Audio Video Equipment (many of them did not even know of its existence, many decades ago).

I ask you: WHERE DID YOU GET THE STEREO TEST SIGNAL THAT SAYS "LEFT- RIGHT - LEFT - RIGHT" THAT YOU USED TO TEST THE EQUIPMENT SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO?. I need it for my Stereo Loudspeaker System installation test.

Greetings from Caracas, Venezuela

ORIGINAL MESSAGE IN SPANISH:

Hola TECHMOAN!!

Nunca me pierdo sus videos dedicados al estudio y conocimiento de Equipos de Audio Video (muchos de ellos ni conocían de su existencia, muchas décadas atrás).

Te pregunto: ¿DONDE CONSEGUISTE LA SEÑAL ESTÉREO DE PRUEBA QUE DICE "IZQUIERDA DERECHA IZQUIERDA DERECHA" QUE USASTE PARA PROBAR LOS EQUIPOS MOSTRADOS EN ESTE VIDEO?. Lo necesito para mis pruebas de instalación de altavoces

Saludos desde Caracas, Venezuela:

This is some dreamy Vapor gold...definitely do the Archive thing that Flamekebab suggested. I could listen to it four hours (see what I did there?).

If you think about it, most commercial audio systems are either 25V or 75V, and are "looped" systems, meaning that the wiring goes from the 25V/70V amplifier, and loops from speaker to speaker, and then back to the amplifier. Each speaker on the system outputs both channels out of one speaker, and most speakers are just inexpensive 8 inch ceiling speakers, so quality really isn't a concern. My local chain grocery store (here in the U.S.) used to have 80s music playing over and over, with messaging in between. It was most likely a two-channel system, as the music was always the same, but the announcements were always up-to-date and different. They were most likely sent a new announcement tape once a month, but kept the music tape the same, and the system would switch between the two channels intermittently. The grocery store was bought out by an independent grocery store, and now they just use SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Who else noticed the planet x3 tape in the shelf?

I weirdly like background store music from the 80s and 90s. I hope you backup the tape and put it up sometime.

I recorded a night at the opera by Queen onto one of my chrome tapes and when I played it back I noticed that there was some noticeable wow and flutter there and that was suppressing because I recorded it on my Sony WM-D6C and all of the other tapes I have done on there not have any meows and flutter on them. What do you recon the cause of this is. What year do you recon the Sanyo RD-4260G is from . I bought one from a 2nd hand shop and it works beautifully and nit was only £2.00. It has wood and brushed stainless steel on it and it has working analog VU meters on it. It it also does Dolby noise reduction and type 2 tape. It has only had one major problem which is the play back speed but that hash been sorted out.

Wait a second. I Could format a cassette with this config.

That use of 4 tracks to double the capacity of the tape was common for audio books, you would play the left channel first both sides then the right channel.
I had a simple headphone adapter for a portable tape deck that would play either the left or right channel on both ears of the headphones when listening to the audio book.

I would love to be able to listen to that AEI tape in its entirety.

Dear Sir, thank you for the amazing and interesting videos. Have you heard of these "Yamaha MT4X Multitrack Cassette Tape Recorder Analog 4 Track" and their ilk. We had an old one at Uni which I thought was a clever concept and might be something that interest you.

I remember back in 2006, as a teen I taped a lot of music on 120 min tape, the tape snapped after playing 2 times.

Parts or Repair? - Philips AL990 Cassette BGM Systems - how to squeeze 4 hrs of music 2 days ago   16:27

If something is broken there’s little to lose but much to gain by attempting a repair - even when I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.

INFO:
• I don’t want to plug this into power - so it’s fine that this part doesn’t work.
• I don’t need to use the alarm - so it’s fine that this doesn’t work.
• I used electrical insulation tape on the soldered wires as I couldn’t find my bag of heat shrink tubing.
• It uses 6 C-Cell batteries - the red battery release ribbon is looped behind the rear two batteries, so one pull of the tape releases all the batteries.
• I checked the polarity of the 12V DC plug by reading the service manual before I plugged by adaptor in
• This is not my first rodeo

• Try to just enjoy things as they come - it’s more fun than looking for holes in them. It’s a simple video about an old radio that just needed new batteries.I’m really not trying to fool anyone here - these types of videos take a long time to shoot but then are edited down to the highlights. Just like watching a 30 minute TV show where someone builds a house - you are seeing selected highlights - a house takes more than 22 minutes plus adverts to build and like that this video was spread over three days of shooting which accumulated about ten hours of video. If something isn’t shown in the videos it doesn’t necessarily mean I forgot it - I mean who in their right mind would leave bare wires pushed up against a circuit board - the suggestion is preposterous, of course I covered the wires...but no one really needs to see someone wrapping wires in insulation tape any more than they’d like to see me walking to the Amazon locker to pick up my aerial delivery or the hour long section where I tried to get both of the incredibly fiddly copper washers back into the new aerial.

It’s just a video it’s not a challenge.
