SpongeBob Appears in Super Bowl Maroon 5 "expected" controversy over 3 months ago   01:39

Inside Edition
One celebrity appearance exploded during the Super Bowl halftime show. More than a million fans signed a petition to include the "SpongeBob SquarePants" rendition of "Sweet Victory" in the show and their wish was granted. It happened after Maroon 5 sang some of its classic songs. The cameo was a tribute to the cartoon's creator, Stephen Hillenberg, who died in November after a battle with ALS. InsideEdition.com's Mara Montalbano (https://twitter.com/MaraMontalbano) has more.

Yep Spongebob showed up for the Super Bowl..for like 10 seconds. Like everyone else I was disappointed that they didn’t play sweet victory. They could have been respectful and payed tribute to Stephen. If this isn’t the worst thing the NFL has ever done, I don’t know what is.
But did Inside Edition sign that petition

I think hillenburg deserved more than just 5 sec of footage of sweet victory

Maroon 5 "expected" controversy over SpongeBob Appears in Super Bowl 3 months ago   04:46

It wouldn't be the Super Bowl without a star-studded halftime show. But the NFL was without a headliner until less than three weeks ago when Maroon 5 was officially announced. They were immediately caught in the crossfire of the NFL's controversial anthem policy. In his only interview, front man Adam Levine spoke to "Entertainment Tonight's" Kevin Frazier about his decision.
